Animal Services

Many animal complaints can be handled by our local Police Department and they should be the first ones to contact for assistance. The Town of Thorntown also coordinates with the Boone County Sheriff's Animal Control department to provide the following assistance to all residents and is dedicated to helping protect the health, safety and welfare of both people and animals in our community. 

• Responding to stray animal complaints
• Investigating dangerous animals
• Animal cruelty investigations
• Impoundments
• Trapping nuisance wildlife and loose livestock
• Ordinance enforcement
